SNC-Lavalin was commissioned to install new equipment and replace existing equipment with a view to enhancing the safety and operation of various units of the Total refinery at Anvers. The project further entailed recabling to accommodate ESD and DCS system components, modifying the configuration of safety locks, and revising the interface between the ESD and DCS system components.

The project entailed basic engineering, detailed engineering studies, assistance with procurement and follow-up on execution. Company teams had completed work for this same client at Nesle in Belgium.

SNC-Lavalin was awarded the construction of two new natural gas compression stations. The aim of the project was to increase gas transport capacity, satisfy customer needs, meet new environmental requirements and replace obsolete equipment. Gas compression stations are situated at regular intervals along natural gas pipelines to compensate for the loss of pressure as natural gas flows through the lines.
